“How I Met Your Mother” seems to be settling some long-running gags and open-ended stories this season. First it was the identity of the Slutty Pumpkin. Now it seems that the season two Slap Bet that was made between Marshall (Jason Segel) and Barney (Neil Patrick Harris) is finally going to be paid in full this Thanksgiving.
CliqueClack noticed the tweet from the @HIMYMProd account with the following cryptic statement: “Not sure why, but we have a feeling you should check out theslapbetcountdown.com – just sayin’.” The site is a countdown clock with the title “Slap Scheduled,” that’s just over three weeks away from showing all zeroes.
What’s three weeks from now? You guessed it, kids! Thanksgiving! Considering the fact that two of the four Slap Bet slaps have been administered by Marshall to Barney’s face during Thanksgiving episodes, it stands to reason that we’re going to see the fifth and final slap during “Slapsgiving 3”.
Unless it’s a fake-out, of course: a Slap countdown clock was used before the first Slapsgiving, and it seems like it would be funnier if we didn’t see the fifth slap coming ahead of time. Maybe Lily (Alyson Hannigan) slaps Ted (Josh Radnor)! Or Robin (Cobie Smulders) slaps Barney! Or someone slaps Kevin (Kal Penn), just for kicks!
Oh, and if you’re not a “HIMYM” fan, you probably have no idea what any of this means.
