Did you know that MTV had something called the Europe Music Awards? Probably not. But after what happened to Hayden Panettiere during the EMAs, which were held in Belfast on Sunday night, the show is now on your radar. And all it took was for a naked guy to appear.
The Huffington Post and Us Weekly have the photos of one David Monahan streaking out onto the EMA stage as Panettiere was presenting the award for Best Song, which ended up going to Lady Gaga. Instead of sidestepping the naked lad, though, Panettiere engaged him in conversation, allowing him enough time to tell her how much he loved her show “Heroes.”
It’s not like Panettiere wasn’t in on the joke, however; as surprised as she seemed to have looked when he came out, she and Monahan engaged in stage patter that ended with her inviting him out for a pint, which in reality would happen pretty much never.
Which brings us back to the question that started this post. Even though the streaker incident was staged, it did do its job. After all, now everyone in the States knows what the heck the EMAs are now.
