If Bethenny Frankel can be a mogul, why can’t Kelly Bensimon?
Well, there are probably a whole bunch of ways to respond to that question — namely matters of drive, focus, and ruthlessness — but, at least according to the recently-fired “Real Housewives of New York” star, she’ll do just as well as her former co-star and frenemy. How else can you interpret the news from The Hollywood Reporter that Bensimon has singed with the same management company that manages Britney Spears?
Bensimon will be managed by Larry Rudolph at ReginDeer Entertainment, who has managed Spears through most of her career (except her head-shaving period) and will try to market the former model’s line of shoes, as well as a new lifestyle book, “I Can Make You Hot!”, which is due out in April. There’s also a TV show in the works, though no details were given.
Of course, Bensimon was best known on “Housewives” for her breakdowns and kooky behavior, and she didn’t exactly exhibit the thick skin and determination that Frankel did. Not too many of the Housewives could build a brand so strong that a major spirits company buys it for a hundred or so million, like Frankel managed with her Skinnygirl line. But more modest success is possible; if Teresa Giudice can have two best-selling cookbooks, anything is up for grabs in “Housewives” land.
