A long tradition of “Live! with Regis and Kathie Lee” smoothly transitioned to “Live! with Regis and Kelly” over a decade ago. Now, with the departure of longtime co-host Regis Philbin on Fri., Nov. 18., Disney-ABC Domestic Television has made sure that at least Kelly will stick around a while longer.

The studio has locked in Kelly Ripa in a new five-year deal that begins in 2012 and runs through 2017, according to outlets such as Deadline.com, ensuring the daytime co-host of at least a 16-year run as a namesake for the syndicated series.

Although names such as Dana Carvey, Jeff Probst and Ryan Seacrest have been mentioned as possible replacements to fill Regis’ shoes, reports say that nothing has been locked down with anyone yet.

Meanwhile, after an appearance by friend Robert DeNiro, a parade of other stars will stop by during Regis’ last week on the show including David Letterman, Donald Trump, Don Rickles, Jimmy Fallon as well as Kathie Lee Gifford.

First on deck as a guest host will be none other than Jerry Seinfeld, who joins Kelly from Mon., Nov. 21 through Wed., Nov. 23.
