Yesterday’s news that “Prime Suspect” will be excluded from NBC’s midseason schedule has been followed up today with an even bleaker report. According to Deadline, NBC is preparing to shut down production on the low-rated Maria Bello-starring procedural, with those who work on the show being told it has been canceled. The Deadline story cites an NBC source who says the network is still “considering their options” for a second season pickup, but at this point a renewal seems unlikely. Episode 13, which shoots this week, will seemingly serve as the series finale. R.I.P. Maria Bello’s fedoras.
