Kelly Clarkson is giving thanks to two of the people who helped give her her start — Simon Cowell and Paula Abdul — in the best way she knows how: performing. Fox has announced that Clarkson will join her former “American Idol” judges on “The X Factor” on Wednesday; she’ll be singing her new single “What Doesn’t Kill You (Stronger).” Bruno Mars will also be performing on the pre-Thanksgiving results episode, singing his hit “It Will Rain.”

The Clarkson and Mars appearances will proceed what Fox promises is a “shocking” double elimination. But the highlight will be Clarkson, given the fact that, nine years after she won the first season of “Idol”, she’s still one of the biggest stars to come from the show, and certainly one of the best-known among the winners. Her presence will certainly help the show on a night where lots of people are pushing to get to where they’re going for Turkey Day.
