Bethenny Frankel is starting to find out that when you become successful, especially in the public eye, you open yourself up to criticism. The latest hit against the former “Real Housewives of New York” star is a lawsuit that claims the tequila in her Skinnygirl Margarita drink isn’t quite the quality that the label would lead a person to believe.

The class-action suit, says the New York Post, was filed by two Skinnygirl drinkers; they claim that the drink’s tequila is mostly a low-quality kind called “mixto” and not the blue agave tequila the label says is in it. The suit also points out that the label changed soon after the Skinnygirl label was bought by Beam Global, with “100%” taken out of the phrase “Made with 100% Blue Agave Tequila;” that small change allowed them to put in what they wanted, says the suit, as long as there was a tiny amount of the higher-quality spirit in the mix. But, according to the complaint, the label is very deceptive.

Frankel isn’t named in the suit, but she is still closely tied with the brand and defended it after Whole Foods took it off their shelves after they discovered it contained a chemical preservative.

As we noted, Frankel has been a big target lately; besides the difficulties with Skinnygirl, she’s been accused of staging a scene in the upcoming season of “Bethenny Ever After” where she and her family supposedly needed to be rescued during a boat trip, and the show’s production company and NBC Universal is being sued by the landlord of the Malibu house she stayed in last season. It’s tough being famous, right? If anyone can deal, though, we know that tough-as-nails Bethenny can handle it.
