Premiering on New Year’s Day, “Mama Drama” takes five sets of over-the-top moms who refuse to grow up and tosses them into a house with their young adult daughters in attempt to make these age-inappropriate, child-imitating party animals “work out their issues.”
According to a VH1 press release, the 10-episode, un-hosted docu-series will force these never-olds to take a long hard look in the mirror and answer questions like, “Who is the “grown-up” and who is the child?” and “Can [I] learn to be age-appropriate and start parenting instead of partying?”
“My mom and I are best friends. I have that in common with these girls,” Salsano told The Hollywood Reporter.
“However, I can tell you I’ve never been to a nightclub doing shots and hooking up with guys in front of my mother,” she added. “I’m not judging, because even in the best of times there is no more complicated relationship than one between a mother and daughter. I think that’s something that needs to be explored.”
Salsano promised similar “Jersey Shore”-style antics in the “Drama” home.
“When there was a fight in that house, it wasn’t a regular reality show squabble — it was personal,” she said of filming for “Mama Drama,” because “whoever was saying something was going after someone’s mother or daughter.”
VH1 has yet to release casting information, but if this were based on fiction, Jenna’s mom on “Awkward” would top our nomination list.
