“Basketball Wives” star Evelyn Lozada has hit on a new formula to get a show of her own: threaten to leave her established show after the network it’s on wrote something about you that you didn’t like. According to TMZ, that’s exactly what happened — a VH1 blog implied that Lozada’s fiance, New England Patriots wide receiver Chad Ochocinco, was cheating on her — and now she’s playing hardball with the cable network.
The deal to lure her back to the popular weekly screaming match will include less shooting time for Lozada, which will give her time to work around her daughter’s school obligations and catch every one of Ochocinco’s games (though she likely won’t see him catch any passes no matter how many games she goes to — he only has 11 receptions so far this season). The capper will be a spin-off about the wedding between Lozada and the rapidly-aging receiver and the lead-up to it.
If only other reality stars had their networks by the short hairs like that, instead of the other way around; maybe this will be a lesson in how to change the power dynamic we usually see in reality TV.
