Did Wendy Williams create a bogus letter from Oprah Winfrey? According to Gayle King, it’s a distinct possibility!
On Wednesday’s “Wendy Williams Show,” Williams presented a letter “from Oprah” which denied any rift between O and her BFF. Earlier, Williams had speculated that their friendship was on the rocks due to Gayle’s departure from OWN to pursue a gig at CBS’ revamped morning show.
On Friday, Gayle phoned in to Tom Joyner’s radio show to set the record straight – and cast some serious doubt on the letter’s origins.
“The letter that I heard Wendy read — I didn’t see it — I know Oprah never wrote a letter to Wendy,” King told Joyner [via Huffpo]. “I said [to Oprah], ‘I’m getting all these messages that you wrote a letter to Wendy,’ and she goes, ‘Gayle, you know more than anybody knows that that’s not true,’ number one.”
King went on to say there was nothing but love between her and Oprah. In fact, Winfrey pushed her to accept the job in the first place. ‘[Oprah] said, ‘Are you kidding? This is so what you do, the news is what you love… you would be crazy to pass it up!'”
So now we’re left to wonder: Did Wendy fabricate the letter? Did someone on Oprah’s team send it to her without her knowledge? Or, perhaps most feasibly, did a Wendy fan create a fake and mail it in?
