It’s been a tough year for Chuck Lorre. It started with his “Two and a Half Men” star Charlie Sheen going off the deep end, accusing the sitcom mogul of all sorts of transgressions, which led to Sheen being fired from the number one comedy on TV. After that very public debacle, Lorre had to figure out a way to continue his long-running sitcom with a new star, Ashton Kutcher.
So, ever willing to make himself the butt of the joke, Lorre decided to make his yearly holiday card a picture of him getting beaten by a gorilla (actually, a guy in a convincing gorilla suit). We didn’t get the card, but Deadline did; the inscription on the card reflects how he feels about 2011: “Oddly enough, not my worst day this year.”
Remember, this is a guy who has played out his innermost thoughts via the vanity cards posted at the end of all three of his shows. So a holiday card showing him being pounded by a fake gorilla is just another day at work for Chuck.
