“Hot in Cleveland” has been heaven for TV nostalgia fans since it debuted in 2010, bringing in guest stars that bring back many memories of fans’ favorite sitcoms of the ’70s, ’80s and ’90s. The latest addition to the guest roster, Ed Asner, gives viewers something more to look forward to: the second reunion between Betty White and one of her co-stars from the “Mary Tyler Moore” show.

Moore herself shared a prison cell with White’s character Elka during the show’s second season, but this reunion has some added juice because White’s randy “MTM” character, Sue Ann Nivens, was constantly hitting on Asner’s character, Lou Grant, and actually managed to bed the gruff news producer in one episode.

So if there are any references to their old roles — and we’re pretty sure that there will be — those references will be charged with a tension that’s rarely seen between octogenarians. EW, who broke the news about the guest spot, says that details of Asner’s role are unknown for now, but the episode will be scheduled to air over the summer.

Next year is already shaping up to be an interesting one for Asner, as he’ll be reprising his role from the original “Hawaii Five-0” on the CBS reboot of the show in the spring.
