Is Anderson Cooper Planning to Come Out on His Daytime Show?

Anderson Cooper

Anderson Cooper has always been notoriously tight-lipped about his personal life, even under constant prodding from frequent co-hosts Kelly Ripa and Kathy Griffin. But, at least according to Gawker, Cooper may be planning on opening up in a big way on his daytime talk show, “Anderson”. In fact, he may be planning on introducing his audience to his boyfriend during the next sweeps period, if the rumor is to be believed.

This is how Gawker figured it out: Cooper is planning his show’s holiday party, and the rumor is that he’ll be introducing the staff to Benjamin Maisani, who has been rumored to be his boyfriend. The tipster who gave Gawker that info also said that “The staff is prepping Anderson’s “coming out” show for the next sweeps. Check the ratings. They’re getting desperate.”

All Gawker could confirm was that the party was taking place where the tipster said it would. But it feels odd that Cooper, who’s always been so reluctant to talk about his sexuality or his life outside a TV studio — apart from his love of reality TV and his relationship with his mother, Gloria Vanderbilt — will talk about something so personal in order to get ratings. Then again, if you’re going to come out on national TV, you might as well do it during a sweeps period, right?
