The big news in the punditry and literary worlds overnight was that Christopher Hitchens, the erudite and controversial columnist for Slate, Vanity Fair and The Atlantic, died last night. He was suffering from advanced esophageal cancer, and he died from complications caused by the disease.
Back in March, Steve Kroft of “60 Minutes” conducted a series of interviews with the ailing raconteur, and the resulting piece was extremely revealing and showed a man who didn’t change his convictions even in the face of rapidly oncoming mortality. Take a look and see if you don’t agree.
