CNN will debut its new morning shows just in time for the Iowa Caucus next week.
The struggling news channel announced the premiere date – next Monday, Jan. 2 (a day before the Iowa voting on Tuesday) – and the times for its two new shows, along with their names.
Certainly, you would think a major TV company such as CNN would name – or at least reveal the names – of two new, high-profile broadcasts sooner than five days away from the shows’ premiere date. Whatever the reason for keeping such crucial information a secret almost ’til the last minute, the names of CNN’s new morning shows are: “Early Start” for the 5-7 a.m. show (4-6c), featuring anchors Ashleigh Banfield and Zoraida Sambolin; and “Starting Point” for the 7-9 a.m. show (6-8c), anchored by Soledad O’Brien.
This story on the Huffington Post has the details. The story notes that O’Brien will make her debut as anchor of “Starting Point” by broadcasting from Des Moines next Monday.
Another thing notable about the launch date for the new CNN morning shows: It’s a week before CBS will launch its new show, “CBS This Morning” with Charlie Rose and Gayle King.
