As much as we get annoyed at all the stunt casting on “Glee” — especially after Ryan Murphy went back on his vow to not do it this season — the idea of Elton John playing one of Rachel Berry’s (Lea Michele) dads was one that had us intrigued and maybe got us a little excited. Unfortunately, the rock legend doesn’t have time to do the gig.
Murphy talked to TV Guide about how the show is currently in the process of casting the dads, and mentioned that the long-rumored prospect of John being one of them won’t happen because he’s in the middle of a tour.
However, that’s not to say that Rachel’s dads are going to be played by unknowns; this quote from Murphy makes us think that at least one of the dads will be a big name: “I had no idea when I sent out word to a couple of agents that there would be so much interest. But there is.”
The man can’t leave well enough alone, can he? Oh, well. We’ll likely see the dads in late February or early March, which will be right after the hype of the Michael Jackson-themed episode has finally died down.
