The queen of comfort (and fried) food, Paula Deen, is scheduled to set the record straight on reports that she has developed Type 2 diabetes, according to reports.
Rumors that Deen had contracted the disease spread like wildfire after The Daily reported that the chef is set to confirm the news and had signed on as the spokesperson for a drug that treats the illness. The report seemed to confirm a National Enquirer story that ran last spring also alleging that the cook had been diagnosed with diabetes.
Now, Us magazine states that Deen will spill the beans and tell all on Tuesday on “Today” in an interview with Al Roker in an effort to finally address the rumors. Meanwhile, a representative of the drug maker told CBSNews that the rumored endorsement deal was not not true.
The television star and host of series such as “Paula’s Best Dishes” has developed a large following for her comfort food, which is often fried or contains fatty ingredients. Those dishes, while yummy, have led her to be sharply criticized by people such as Barbara Walters, who accused her several years ago of encouraging child obesity.
