No show has generated more detailed casting news than “Anger Management,” Charlie Sheen‘s new show for FX and Lionsgate. One of the two major roles that needed to be cast was for the ex-wife of Sheen’s character, and it looks like producer Bruce Helford and company have found their woman: Shawnee Smith has been cast in the role, according to Deadline.
Smith is probably best known for her role as dippy receptionist Linda on “Becker,” but she’s one of those “That Gal” character actors that have been around forever. As Charlie’s ex-wife on the show, her character will be trying to forge her own path after being overshadowed by her husband for their entire marriage.
Who will play the other major role of Charlie’s therapist is still being determined, reports Deadline. It’s between Selma Blair and Elaine Hendrix; while we think both would do a fine job, Blair’s name recognition as well as her no-BS personality and acting style would mix very well with Sheen, especially in the therapist’s role.
