Alex Da Silva, who was a choreographer on the FOX reality hit “So You Think You Can Dance” during its first four seasons, was sentenced to 10 years in prison, according to TMZ, on charges that he raped and assaulted former dance students.

He was arrested on the charges in 2009, and was tried on four counts, but was only convicted on one count of rape and on another count of assault with intent to rape. The incidents that he was convicted for in September date back to 2002, according to E! Online.

In addition to the prison sentence, da Silva will have to register as a sex offender, a label that he’ll have to renew on his birthday every year for the rest of his life.

If this text on Da Silva’s website is from his “team,” as is indicated, it seems like Da Silva is going to prison thinking he’s innocent: “No person, regardless of whether he treated others kindly, fairly, or with respect, should suffer such terrible consequences  for acts he is not guilty of committing.”
