Two freelance producers for CBS’ long-running reality series “The Amazing Race” were poisoned while in Uganda, resulting in the death of one of the men. Fox News reports that producer Jeff Rice died as a result of an apparent attack from a group of local thugs attempting to rob them.

According to the report, Rice and another producer were reportedly poisoned after refusing to hand over their belongings to the criminals.

The producers were not working on “The Amazing Race” while in the country, although the story states that Rice did work on the current season of the show, which premiered on CBS this past Sunday with its 20th season of the reality series.

The Fox News report states that executives as Jerry Bruckheimer Films, which produces the show, were not aware of the deaths.
