And if none of that seems like hard news to you, well, then you would be correct — but that’s not why we’re noting Jen’s appearance here and reporting on it. We only really need one reason to do that: It’s because she’s Jennifer Aniston, and love her or hate her, she’s one of the most bankable stars on the planet.
That’s a rare skill, of course — to make money for your financial backers just about every time you appear in a movie, even if those movies are almost universally dismissed (or panned outright) by critics. Fortunately for her, though, the people who flock to her movies and buy tickets don’t seem to care what the movie critics think.
And that has made Jen one of the wealthiest personalities in Hollywood. So we’re always fascinated when we see her on the late-night shows, even if the topics she discusses — puppies, for example — are a little on the light side.
We have her “Tonight Show” appearance here in three parts. Check ’em out.
Part 1: Jen’s interview with Jay started out slowly with the aforementioned puppy story. Basically, the segment’s producer had evidently arranged for Jay to bring this topic up first, so Jen told him about the “new addition” to her “family” — a “rescue” dog, part pit bull and part boxer (though Jen didn’t seem too sure of this).
As we sometimes do at such times, we happened to remember an appearance Joan Rivers made not long ago on David Letterman’s “Late Show” about one of her own dogs, which she described as part pit bull, part collie. But the difference between Joan and Jen was, Joan made a hilarious joke out of it. To paraphrase the joke, Joan said it was a lovely pet, a terrific mix of breeds — a dog that “rips your face off” and then (like a collie) goes and runs for help! Dave nearly fell on the floor laughing.
Jen had no such joke unfortunately for her own puppy story. However, Jay got off a great line about Chelsea Handler, which you have to hear.
Part 2: It turns out Jennifer and Chelsea have become good friends, having first met at Jen’s 40th birthday party three years ago. So, much of this second segment was devoted to talking about Chelsea, including the time Jay and Jen both guest-starred on Chelsea’s E! reality series “After Lately.” Jay showed a clip — which you can see in our video clip below.
Jennifer and Jay also revealed that they both are mesmerized by A&E’s “Hoarders,” as are so many people these days. This show has to be the current champion in terms of how many times celebrities bring it up on talk shows. Well, that’s something we have in common with celebrities — we can’t take our eyes off “Hoarders” either.
Part 3: This segment was devoted largely to talking about Jen’s new movie, “Wanderlust,” co-starring Paul Rudd. It was filmed on location in the small town of Clarksville, Ga., and Jen told Jay of the time a local restaurant owner persuaded Jen and some of the movie’s other cast members to join him out back behind the eatery to sample some of his homemade peach moonshine. Now this was a funny story.
And, of course, you can watch the entire Friday “Tonight Show” right here. Also appearing: Adam Levine, judge on “The Voice” and lead singer for Maroon 5.
