Mark Ballas may be a big fan of a tango on television as a pro on ABC’s hit series “Dancing with the Stars,” but when it comes to Lifetime reality series “Dance Moms,” let’s just say he thinks the show may do more harm than good.
Ballas told TMZ that dance company owner Abby Lee Miller was a detriment to his craft.
“She’s not dancing, she’s just yelling at them,” he said, before adding, “I just don’t think it’s the correct way to teach somebody … Those kids are 6 years old. They’re learning. They’re babies … They need to be treated the correct way.”
Miller has been sharply criticized for her tough love approach to her pupils, and has been quoted telling the girls “Kids should cry when their arm is broken and its hanging off or somebody died. That’s it.”
“Those kids should not be afraid to go to dance,” said Ballas.
