We love it when Jimmy Fallon and Brian Williams “Slow Jam the News” on “Late Night,” but most of the time, BriWi plays things straight while Fallon and the Roots jam around his dead-serious readings of the stories of the day.
But last night, BriBriWillWills, as Jimmy called him, showed an ever-so-slight inclination that he’d like to do a little bit more. The topic was Super PACs and the huge amounts of money they funnel into the election process. Most of the slow jam was like a Barry White love song, slow and smooth, until Jimmy broke into a quick verse from “Super Freak.” Bri Will-i-am, as Jimmy also called him, channeled his inner Rick James for a blink-and-you’ll-miss-it moment, but it was enough to get both the audience and the Roots laughing themselves silly.
