Looks like Sherri Shepherd is taking Nancy Grace’s advice (“wear the pasties”) for Season 14 of “Dancing with the Stars.”
“The View” co-host says she won’t be showing any skin this season, despite the show’s reputation for sexy, skimpy costumes and the occasional “wardrobe malfunction.”
In the “View” clip above, Shepherd is asked about those infamous costumes: “No, I’m not confident [enough] to show any skin,” Sherri says. Not even if she loses some weight, she says, as many contestants are known to do (and we’re not saying she needs to). Instead, she’ll rely on her best assets, and it might not be the ones you think.
“I’ll show my best assets – my legs,” Sherri says. “But I want it to be about the dance, that’s it.”
“I’m trying to get the steps and be elegant and graceful,” she adds, “but it’s a little hard for me.”
Shepherd will be doing double duty this season, maintaining her “View” co-hosting gig while “Dancing.” It’s a grueling rehearsal schedule, even for those who aren’t balancing their day jobs. Shepherd has already been practicing every day for five hours a day with partner Val Chmerkovskiy (Maks’ little brother).
So how is she doing? After a long pause, Shepherd defers to her partner Val’s observations about her dancing skills:
“He’s very diplomatic. He says I’m doing absolutely wonderful … except for stepping on his feet and hitting him in the face.”
Viewers will soon see if Sherri can shake it when the mirror ball descends on the ballroom in the two-hour season premiere of “DWTS” on Monday, March 19 at 8/7c on ABC.
