ER” star Anthony Edwards has signed a deal to star in ABC’s drama pilot, “Zero Hour.” The project will be written and executive produced by Paul Scheuring, the creator of the Fox hit “Prison Break.”

According to Deadline, Edwards will play Hank Foley, a longtime editor of “Modern Skeptics” magazine who becomes embroiled in a major conspiracy after his wife is kidnapped.

This will be Edwards’ first leading TV role since “ER.” Edwards played Dr. Mark Greene on the long-running NBC medical drama from 1994-2008.

Deadline also reported Wednesday that “Felicity” sweetheart Keri Russell is set to star in FX’s drama, “The Americans,” to be executive produced by “Justified’s” Graham Yost. Set in the ’80s during the Cold War, the plot of the show surrounds two KGB spies in an arranged marriage who pose as Americans in a Washington, DC, suburb. Their relationship slowly becomes the real deal as it’s tested by the strains of being, well, spies. Russell was last seen in Fox’s entirely unfunny sitcom, “Running Wilde.”
