Are you getting giddy about “Community” coming back next Thursday? We are, and we got even more giddy when NBC released the trailer above. It’s in the usual “foreboding movie trailer” format, but it does a great job of showing just what kind of weird and fun things are going to be facing the “Greendale Seven” in the second half of the season… including getting expelled.
Yes, we said expelled. The trailer starts off with a panel of school officials grimly saying “may God be with you” as they kick the study group out of school. Then we launch into clips from the rest of the season, which includes Britta (Gillian Jacobs) and Jeff (Joel McHale) having a drunken shotgun wedding, Chang (Ken Jeong) seemingly taking over the school, Annie (Alison Brie) and Shirley (Yvette Nicole Brown) witnessing children as riot police, Troy (Donald Glover) and Abed (Danny Pudi) trying to be normal, and Pierce (Chevy Chase) telling everyone that he just sat on his testicles. We also see John Goodman return as the evil dean of Greendale’s all-powerful air conditioning trade school, and Oscar-winner Jim Rash is in the trailer doing his usual balancing act as Dean Pelton.
Like we said, it’s getting us giddy, as is the scene below, where the study group contemplate the meaning of marriage right after Shirley gets re-engaged to her ex-husband Andre (Malcolm-Jamal Warner):
