Veteran actor Dick Van Dyke has gotten hitched at the age of 86.
Van Dyke tells RumerFix that he married his makeup artist Arlene Silver, 40, on Feb. 29.
Of taking the big leap, Van Dyke says it was “kinda of the spur of the moment, we just decided Leap Day would be the best time to do it.”
The actor met his new wife six years ago at the SAG Awards and was “bowled over by her beauty.” He immediately hired her to be his personal makeup artist and their relationship evolved from friendship into something more over time. “The last couple of years we kind of fell in love,” Van Dyke says. “She keeps up with me.”
Silver also tells RumerFix of “The Dick Van Dyke Show” star, “He’s the happiest person I ever met. He’s got an infectious spirit.”
This is the second marriage for the actor, who was previously married to Margie Willett for 36 years. The couple had four children together before divorcing in 1984. Van Dyke then lived with Michelle Triola for more than 30 years until her death in 2009.
“I’m not a loner. I have to have a life partner. I found the perfect one,” Van Dyke said.
Congrats to the newlyweds!
