Sofia Vergara to Host ‘SNL’ on April 7

During Saturday night’s episode of “Saturday Night Live,” the dulcet tones of Don Pardo announced that the next new episode, set to air on April 7, will be hosted by Sofia Vergara of “Modern Family”. The musical guest will be the red-hot British boy band One Direction, currently in New York making the talk show rounds (they performed on “Today” this morning).

We know Vergara is beautiful and funny, but can she handle the crucible of “SNL”? It’s made other big stars crack under the pressure; Oscar nominee Jonah Hill (it’s still weird to type that phrase) couldn’t take his eyes off his cue cards on Saturday night, making for a very deer-in-the-headlights performance. We think Vergara will do just fine, and it’ll fun to see if the writers go beyond just doing a “Family” parody or sketches that emphasize her accent. She’s much better than that.
