Fox is expanding “American Idol” to two hours beginning in April, but the extra time will come at the expense of the channel’s midseason comedy “I Hate My Teenage Daughter” which will now get shelved until the summer. The Hollywood Reporter reports that the series, which stars Jamie Pressly, has originally going to move from its Tuesday time slot to Wednesdays next month due to low ratings, but will instead will go on an extended hiatus until the summer.

The last original episode of the show will air at 8:30p on Tuesday, April 3.

As for “Idol,” the show’s performance episodes will now expand from its previous 90-minute edition to two hours for the remainder of its Wednesday airings this season beginning April 4.

Meanwhile, “Glee” will return from its winter hiatus April 10 in its 8 p.m. slot.
