While making the talk-show rounds promoting the new season of “Mad Men” (which premieres Sunday night at 8/7c on AMC), series star Jon Hamm did not waiver on his recent comments about Kim Kardashian in which he called the reality star (and Paris Hilton too) bleeping idiots.

An insulted Kardashian responded on Twitter saying she respects Hamm’s opinion but called his comments “careless.”

“I don’t think they were careless, I think they were accurate,” an indifferent Hamm explained Monday on “Today” when Matt Lauer brought up the subject.

“It’s a part of our culture I certainly don’t identify with,” the actor went on to say, “and I don’t really understand the appeal of it, other than in a car crash sensibility. It’s not something I partake in or enjoy but it is what it is and here we are.”

The “Mad Men” star’s inflammatory quote, in which he was making an overarching observation about today’s culture, appears in an interview with Elle UK:

“Whether it’s Paris Hilton or Kim Kardashian or whoever, stupidity is certainly celebrated,” Hamm said. “Being a f*&%ing idiot is a valuable commodity in this culture because you’re rewarded significantly.”

Later this week, Hamm and costar John Slattery appear on “Anderson,” who also wouldn’t let go of the Hamm slam.

Slightly annoyed that he is still wasting his breath on such “stupidity,” Hamm joked to Anderson Cooper that he doesn’t even remember what he said, “That point is so long since gone.”

Hamm added, “I’m in a Twitter feud and I don’t have a twitter account. And I’m not a big fan of feuding, so it’s a very strange place to be.”

Lest you assume the high-brow actor is “above” watching reality TV, he does confess to liking some shows from the genre. Find out what Jon Hamm is into in the clip below:
