Keeping to an offhanded quip he made a few weeks back, Conan O’Brien did last night’s entire episode of “Conan” from a mini version of his set. The set was originally designed for a “Puppy Conan” segment, so seeing the 6’4″ O’Brien hunker down behind a tiny desk and the burly Andy Richter plop himself on a chair that’s fit for a child was a hoot.
But O’Brien upped the ante by bringing out oversized guests, like a surprise appearance by Joel McHale and a guest spot by Steve Schirripa. But the kicker was when 7’1″ Shaquille O’Neal came out to talk to Conan. Once he sat down, it felt like half the set disappeared. And Shaq talked about getting his PhD and some other stuff, but we just couldn’t get over one of the largest men in the world sitting on one of the smallest sets in the world.
