The news doesn’t stop just because “The Daily Show” goes on vacation, and last week had two major stories — besides the GOP presidential fun and games, of course. But while Jon Stewart was champing at the bit to joke about Dick Cheney‘s heart transplant, he felt the pull to step away from it and address the tough to joke about story of the Trayvon Martin shooting.
But Jon did get in a few shots about the former VP, pretending the old heart leapt out of Cheney’s chest and attacked the surgeon with venomous teeth. He then joked that Cheney got a “plant” instead of a “transplant” because there was nothing there to begin with.
When he turned to the Martin case, his focus was on the media coverage of the shooting, including some overzealous audio engineering from CNN, Geraldo Rivera‘s notion that Martin’s hoodie should take some of the blame and a game of “Jedi or Sith Lord?” generated by pictures of news pundits in their own hoodies. Roland Martin turns out to be neither, which you’ll realize once you see him in his hoodie.
