‘Castle’ Stars Reveal Their Favorite Scenes

Stana Katic on Castle (ABC)

It’s been “Castle’s” most innovative season yet. From the 1940s flashback episode “The Blue Butterfly,” to the more serious episodes like “Killshot” that focused on Beckett’s PTSD following her shooting, the ABC drama is now about a lot more than just the wacky cases of the week and sexual tension.

Below, the cast looks back at their own favorite scenes from Season 4.

Stana Katic (Beckett)

Favorite scene: I loved a scene from “Cuffed” where the two of them are doing this horrible tango where [Castle’s] like, “Why do you always have to be in first?” She’s like, “I have a gun. Are you kidding me? I’m supposed to go in first. It’s my job.” There’s this wonderful banter I think is appropriate to the two characters.

Andrew Marlowe (Show creator)

Favorite scene: We had a scene in the two parter, “Pandora” and “Linchpin” that was very difficult to accomplish. That was the car going into the water. The folks who get the DVD, they’ll be able to see the behind-the-scenes making of that. It was a challenge in production to pull that off well, and to pull it off on a budget, but we had a really good time. We had a great visual effects team. We had great directors. They managed to pull it off.

Jon Huertas (Esposito)

Favorite scene: My favorite scene so far this season is a scene in “Killshot” between Beckett and Esposito in the evidence room with sniper rifle. That was probably my favorite scene because Alexi Hawley, who wrote that episode, consulted with me on the episode for weeks before we shot it. He was able to get a lot of the stuff that we talked about, me being a veteran and dealing with PTSD myself, that I thought was important. It’s the number one injury that servicemen are coming home with and it also affects cops and firemen. I’m glad we were able to bring that to people’s attention. It also showcased the deeper relationship between Beckett and Esposito.

Molly Quinn (Alexis)

Favorite scene: I loved the two parter, “Linchpin” and “Pandora.” I loved having that infusion of Alexis into Castle’s (Nathan Fillion) workspace. That was a joy to do.

Penny Johnson Jerrald (Captain Gates)

Favorite scene: My favorite scenes are always when I have to deal with Castle and look at him because Penny is cracking up inside. I find him terribly funny.
