Eugene Levy brought matzo, Manischewitz wine and a matzo tie to “Late Night with Jimmy Fallon” Friday night on NBC to mark the first night of Passover.

Ordinarily, Levy would be home participating in a seder on the first night of the eight-day Jewish holiday, but this week he’s been in New York tirelessly promoting his new movie, the “American Pie” followup, “American Reunion.”

The loquacious Levy first turned up on David Letterman’s “Late Show” earlier this week, where he told tales about his friendships with Paul Shaffer, Dave’s musical director, and Martin Short.

The three Canadian entertainers have known each other for about 40 years, and Levy told even more stories about them when he appeared with Jimmy Fallon Friday night — after reciting the customary Hebrew blessing over the wine and distributing glasses of the Concord grape vintage to Jimmy and fellow guest Guy Pearce.

The Passover celebration took place in Part One of Levy’s sitdown with Jimmy.

In Part Two of his interview with Jimmy, Levy talked about the theater scene in Toronto in the early ’70s when he appeared in a production of “Godspell” that also included such future acting and comedy heavyweights as Short, Gilda Radner, Dave Thomas, Andrea Martin and Victor Garber. Shaffer was the show’s musical director.

Levy also told a wild story about how he met Martin Short in 1970, and the incident that cemented their long friendship.
