Matthew McConaughey and Woody Harrelson could be coming to a small screen near you on a weekly basis.
The actors and friends are reportedly shopping to cable networks a potential anthology series for television called “True Detective.”
They would play a pair of detectives — Rust Cohle (McConaughey) and Martin Hart (Harrelson) — whose lives become intertwined during the hunt for a serial killer in Louisiana, according to The Hollywood Reporter.
The format of the series would be similar to FX’s “American Horror Story,” says THR, in that the cast and storyline would change each season. If the project is picked up, the first season would consist of eight episodes that star McConaughey and Harrelson.
The project would mark the return to series TV for Harrelson, who got his big break on the classic sitcom “Cheers” playing lovable bartender Woody Boyd. It would be the first series for movie star McConaughey, who has, however, guest starred on the HBO comedy “Eastbound & Down.”
