Hollywood’s most legendary “It” girl Marilyn Monroe is once again the “It” girl in Hollywood.
Hot on the heels of the film icon becoming the central figure in NBC’s “Smash,” a drama about the making of a Marilyn Broadway musical, along with Michelle Williams’ sultry, Oscar-nominated performance in “My Week with Marilyn,” comes another project attaching itself to Monroe’s legacy.
Entertainment One is teaming up with the Estate of Marilyn Monroe to develop and produce “Finding Marilyn,” a new reality competition that will search for Hollywood’s next “It” girl.
Described as a “real-life Cinderella story,” the series will feature 12 young women as they head to Los Angeles to compete for a chance to make it big in Showbiz.
“We are thrilled to give the winner of ‘Finding Marilyn’ the opportunity to emulate Marilyn Monroe’s iconic journey to stardom,” said Nick Woodhouse, CMO of the estate of Marilyn Monroe, in a statement.
“We’re very excited to make someone’s Hollywood dream come true,” adds Entertainment One CEO John Morayniss. “‘Finding Marilyn’ has all the ingredients for an epic reality series.”
No other details about the project, such as the types of challenges, the winning prize, a network, or premiere date, have been announced. But it’s worth mentioning that this August marks the 50th anniversary of Monroe’s untimely death.
