The producers of “Fringe” are exploring two different realities, one in which the Fox show comes back for season five and another in which it is cancelled.

As fans, cast and crew await Fox’s decision on whether or not to pick up another year of the sci-fi series, producers decided to explore both worlds and have shot two separate endings to this season, according to Zap2it, one a cliffhanger (if year five is a go) and another that wraps up the story altogether.

The site spoke with series star Lance Reddick about the season, confirming that the Season 4 finale will answer fans’ major questions and give them some closure to the story that we’ve seen thus far.

Now if the series does come back, Reddick said that that the team taped a cliffhanger finale.

“Something happens at the very, very end of the season finale,” Reddick said. “It may or may not stay; I don’t know. It could open up an entire new season.”
