Howard Stern may have a reputation as one of the world’s most opinionated radio hosts, but when the cameras stop rolling, the shock jock is more of a puppy dog than most fans would expect.

On today’s episode of “The Talk,” after announcing the show’s upcoming weeklong trip to New York City, host Julie Chen mentioned that Stern would soon be a guest on the show, but not without a hint of trepidation.

“Should we be nervous with Howard Stern coming on our show when we take it to NYC?” Chen asked co-host Sharon Osbourne.

“No,” said Osbourne.. “There is this perception about him, but when he’s in person, not on his radio show, he is a love. I mean, I can’t begin to tell you. We’ve been around the country on auditions; as soon as anybody cries, Howard’s up there cuddling them with Kleenex, taking care of them.”

Osbourne has long been defensive of her new “America’s Got Talent” co-host, telling Regis Philbin earlier this year, “He’s very entertaining, he’s very funny and actually, off-radio, he’s a very accessible, easy guy.”
