Katie Couric seemed to be setting the stage for her own entry into the daytime talk arena when she appeared on “The Wendy Williams Show” on Wednesday.
It wasn’t the first time Katie had visited with Wendy, and the two chatted like old friends, as you’ll see if you watch the clip, above.
On the show, Wendy got Katie to talk about:
Guest-hosting “Good Morning America” on ABC last week:
“It was fun. I had a lot of fun,” Couric said. “That’s a great group of people. They couldn’t have been warmer and more welcoming. It was fun to do the morning gig because I did it [on NBC’s “Today Show”] for 15 years.”
She admitted she had a feeling of “divided loyalty” when she guest-hosted the ABC show. And while she was glad to be back on morning television for a week, it was clear she doesn’t relish making that a regular thing again. “It was a little like getting together with an old boyfriend,” Couric, 55, told Williams. “You remember why you fell in love and you remember why you broke up, because those hours are tough.” She disclosed that her old “Today” co-host, Matt Lauer, sent her flowers last week.
Her upcoming talk show:
“I want to talk to a lot of interesting people who are doing interesting things,” she said. “I was very honored to do ‘The CBS Evening News,’ but it was a little constraining for me,” she told Wendy. “I just want to have a show where I can be serious sometimes and also have a lot of fun.”
Couric also revealed which celebrity she’s currently crushing on. Hint: He’s on “Dancing With the Stars.”
Couric’s own syndicated talk show, titled “Katie,” premieres in September.
