Rolling Stones lead singer Mick Jagger will host the May 19 season finale of “Saturday Night Live,” NBC announced Thursday.
Jagger will also perform on the show, which will be the Grammy winner’s first time hosting and his third appearance as musical guest. This year marks the 50th anniversary of The Rolling Stones, who have a new book due this summer, as they prep for their big anniversary tour, which has been pushed into 2013.
“SNL” is going out with a bang, featuring an A-list line-up to close out this 37th season, including New York Giants quarterback Eli Manning hosting this weekend (May 5), with musical guest Rihanna; “SNL” alum Will Ferrell returning to host on May 12, featuring Usher as the music act; and now the rock legend on May 19’s finale.
As for what kind of line-up the show will have next season in terms of key players, “SNL” executive producer Lorne Michaels acknowledges there will be casting changes, but stays mum on confirming specific departures (but it’s likely at the very least that this is “Bridesmaids” star Kristen Wiig‘s last season).
