Howard Sternmay be a happily married man these days, but that doesn’t mean he’s blind to other beauties.
“Barbara needs a man,” said Stern of host Barbara Walters, almost immediately after sitting down with the hosts. “She wants a man badly.”
So who would be the perfect person for the seasoned reporter?
“Charlie Rose, right? Can you see that?” asked Stern. “The guy is 100 years old and he needs someone who’s sophisticated … she needs a mature man.”

It seems that Stern’s suggestion sat well with Walters, who showed her appreciation by climbing into the shock jock’s lap and planting a kiss on him, a favor he later repaid to Sherri Shepherd, mimicking his cuddle time with Matt Lauer earlier in the day on “The Today Show.”
While Stern seemed to be in a lighthearted mood, he also took the opportunity to discuss some serious social issues.
“We do need gay marriage in the country,” Stern told the hosts. “We all have a right to our happiness. We all go around once, this is it, and gay people can’t wait any longer.”

Stern went on to explain that he wants everyone to experience the kind of happiness he has with his wife, TV personality Beth Ostrosky Stern.
“I have a great marriage; I adore my wife … I’m so happily married. I enjoy my marriage.”
While Stern is happy in his personal life, he opened up about the pain of ending his first marriage. “To me, the worst thing you can go through is a divorce, especially when children are involved,” said Stern. “I did learn something, and I think I’m a better man for it. I learned to have more empathy and I learned about my own narcissism, and I learned, I think, what went wrong in my first marriage, and I learned about myself and what I needed to do, and as a result, I’m a better husband.”
“I’m so wonderful,” he joked. “Doesn’t everyone want to marry me now?”
Howard Stern debuts on “America’s Got Talent” on Monday, May 14 at 8/7c on NBC.
