Before our very eyes, “The Big Bang Theory” has transformed from a funny show about four nerdy man-children into a more heartwarming — and nearly as funny — show about relationships.
Penny (Kaley Cuoco) and Leonard (Johnny Galecki) are giving things another try, and Amy (Mayim Bialik) is slowly wearing down the intellectual facade of Sheldon (Jim Parsons), while Raj (Kunal Nayyar)… well, he did have a dalliance with Siri on his iPhone for an episode, so that counts, right?
Tonight’s fifth season finale shows just how far our band of scientists from Pasadena have come in the romance department. The wedding of Bernadette (Melissa Rauch) to former creepy dude Howard Wolowitz (Simon Helberg) was going to be postponed when Howard’s mission to the International Space Station (which he’s deathly afraid of going on) gets moved up. But Bernadette wants that ring on her finger before Howard gets shot up into space. So the gang throw together a rooftop wedding for the pair, complete with Howard’s unseen-but-definitely-heard mother in tow.
Above is a clip from the episode, where Howard gives Bernadette a gift and (almost) has a romantic moment with his soon-to-be-wife. Below, check out a behind-the-scenes look at the finale, where we get to hear Rauch’s real voice. Although we’ve always known that the Bernadette voice wasn’t real, it’s still a shock to hear Rauch speak in a much lower register, isn’t it?
“The Big Bang Theory” Season Finale Airs Thursday, May 10 at 8/7c on CBS.
