Late-night luminaries Stephen Colbert and Jimmy Fallon seem to enjoy a special relationship, so it’s always worth tuning in when Colbert makes a guest appearance on Fallon’s “Late Night” on NBC.

Colbert — who’s now making the rounds promoting his new children’s book, “I Am a Pole” (please don’t ask us what that means) — came on the Fallon show Friday night. And, surprisingly, the two late-night stars, who have long seemed so friendly, struggled to define their current relationship.

It’s one of the topics they took up, as you’ll see if you watch Colbert’s appearance, above. The host of “Late Night” and the star of “The Colbert Report” on Comedy Central also discussed:

1) Colbert’s obsession with the concept of “superpacs.”

2) Colbert’s children’s book and, in the process, they explained the book’s premise a lot better than we could!

They also competed in a one-on-one game of bubble soccer. What’s that? Well, watch the clip and find out!
