Fox Announces New Fall Schedule

Fox announced Monday its new fall schedule, which will feature two new comedies, one new drama, and a few big names coming to the network, like Kevin Bacon, whose midseason drama “The Following” is being billed as “the new ’24′”, and a new sitcom from Mindy Kaling of “The Office.”

The current lineup will also see some changes: “Glee” moves to Thursdays, as the network plans on turning Tuesdays into a comedy block, while Kiefer Sutherland’s “Touch” heads to Fridays.

And while it seems to be growing weary, “American Idol” is still the tentpole series of the network, while Simon Cowell insists he can salvage “X Factor” – look for new judges Britney Spears and Demi Lovato to be trotted out for official announcements (finally) on Monday.

“This year was a bigger drop-off than we anticipated,” said Fox Entertainment President Kevin Reilly at the New York Upfronts. “There’s a lot of life left in it,” he also said.
