Louisiana authorities say Mitchell Guist, an alligator hunter featured on the reality show “Swamp People,” has died.

Guist was on the Belle River in St. Martin Parish loading his boat around 9 a.m. Monday when he fell and appeared to suffer a seizure, according to The Times-Picayune.

Witnesses report someone attempted CPR while a 911 call was placed. He was transported to Teche Regional Hospital in Morgan City, where he was pronounced dead.

Guist appeared on the History Channel series with his brother Glenn. The brothers were born and raised on the bayou and lived entirely off the land, according to History’s website.
