The CW Reveals Fall Plans, Major Schedule Revamp

The CW announced Thursday plans for its fall slate, and what jumps out are the addition of five new series … and a significant amount of time-slot shuffling.

America’s Next Top Model” is among the shows getting a time-slot makeover, moving to Fridays at 8/7c after airing for eight seasons on Wednesdays. “Supernatural” will now haunt Wednesdays at 9/8c, “Hart of Dixie” (now on Tuesdays) swaps nights with “90210” (now on Mondays), which is now paired with the final season of “Gossip Girl.”

The other notable move is the network’s decision to hold off on two highly anticipated new series; “The Carrie Diaries,” a prequel of sorts to “Sex and the City” featuring the adventures of a young Carrie Bradshaw, will premiere in midseason, along with the buzzy series, “Cult,” about a TV show with a loyal — and potentially lethal — following.

The other three dramas slotted for fall are: the network’s modern-day twist on “Beauty and the Beast” starring Kristin Kreuk (“Smallville”) and Jay Ryan; “Arrow,” based on the comic-book character Green Arrow; and “Emily Owens, M.D.,” a drama starring Meryl Streep’s daughter Mamie Gummer as a nerdy new doctor whose hospital is a lot like high school.
