One singing Legend doesn’t have much to say about about two certain pop stars invading primetime this fall.
John Legend, who stars this summer on ABC’s new singing show, “Duets” along with Kelly Clarkson and Robin Thicke, offered his thoughts on “The X Factor’s” decision to add Britney Spears and Demi Lovato to its judges’ panel next season.
“You know it’s interesting. It should be very interesting. I don’t have much to say,” the singer told E! online when asked about the new “X Factor” judges. “It’s interesting when people, you know, are judging singing competitions when they aren’t really singers.”
Well, he does have a point. See What Else He Said in the Clip Above.
Simon Cowell, however, boasts that with this added “star power,” ahem, his show will “seriously kick butt” next season.
TV’s original Mean Judge seems to think the troubled ex-Disney stars will kill two ratings birds with one stone, by pulling in a younger audience and satisfying the trainwreck factor. But can Britney save “X Factor”? Or has Cowell lost his marbles? He certainly has paid an insane amount of money to bring the singers on board, with Britney pulling in a whopping $15 million, and (poor) Demi reportedly getting paid just $1 million.
Didn’t Simon learn anything after his seriously over-inflated ratings declaration last season left him with egg on his face? (He predicted anything less than 20 million viewers would be a disappointment; the show’s weekly average went on to hover around a disappointing 11 million.)
