One-time rivals Conan O’Brien and David Letterman struck an accord and finally got around to talking about Jay Leno, when Conan made his first appearance on CBS’ “Late Show” in 13 years.

A brief period of silence between the two former hosts of “Late Night” played right into Letterman’s hand.

“I think the longer we sit here, the more uncomfortable it will make Jay,” he said.

“You know he’s watching right now,” agreed O’Brien.

The two funnymen then recapped the feelings they had during the much-publicized “Tonight Show” gig that O’Brien briefly held before Jay Leno took it back.

“I was delighted by everything that happened,” said Letterman, “except you losing your job.”

“If this is bringing you some measure of joy, then to hell with my career!” O’Brien said.
