Former “X Factor” host Steve Jones is reportedly close to signing a deal to co-host “Entertainment Tonight.”

According to Page Six, Jones has been in talks to take over for Mark Steines, who recently quit the nightly newsmagazine show after 17 years.

Jones has been contributing to “ET” alongside Nancy O’Dell since March.

“ET” reps say “nothing has been confirmed,” but sources close to the show claim a full-time offer is imminent.

Jones was fired from “The X Factor” in January along with judges Nicole Scherzinger and Paula Abdul. Scherzinger and Abdul will be replaced by Britney Spears and Demi Lovato when the singing competition series returns this fall. Simon Cowell has yet to name a replacement for Jones, but says he’s on the hunt for two hosts for Season 2.
