It’s easy to see where Howard Stern learned his talent for harsh criticism.
After the New York auditions opened with a particularly terrible act on Tuesday night’s “America’s Got Talent,” Howard tried to give some career advice to the singing sales clerk.
“Don’t be stupid, you moron,” Stern said, recalling the brutal advice his own father had given him as a teen.
And it turns out, Ben Stern, was right there in the audience! So Howard pulled his 89-year-old father up on stage to give “the moron” a talking to.
“You can’t be a moron,” said the elder Stern as the crowd roared. “You have to sit down and think this over carefully,” he went on. “First of all, you have to make a living.”
And it may have been the reality check the kid needed, because he sure ain’t gonna make a living doing what he did on the show.
So there you have it. Words of wisdom from a Stern papa.
Watch Howard’s dad upstage the show and see how the kid reacted in the clip above.
